Lego friends on Abbey Road as storm troopers and a bunny

It’s that magical time of the year again! As the leaves turn and the days shorten, we’re all hitting that reset button with new workout routines, fresh wardrobes and a chance to redefine our affiliations. So, who’s on your squad this year? Do you stick to one group or do you float around like a social butterfly? Or maybe, just maybe, it’s time to create your own clan!

How will you hit the reset button with networking and engaging? Why should you? And where do you start??

  1. Niche is the New Cool: If you don’t know which group you belong to, that’s ok! Let’s help you find your niche. It helps if you can define your values, then you can create a personal brand and find your crew. It’s essential in today’s age of hyper-personalization; you can’t speak to a younger generation by feeding them stale content they’ve already seen everywhere else. It’s time to laser-focus on your ideal audience, get to know them and deliver content that feels tailor-made. Then they’ll feel they’re a part of a community and you will, too! It’s a win-win.
  2. Quality Over Quantity: It’s tempting to pester an old list of contacts, but it’s like serving the same dish to them five days a week – uninspiring. Clean up your data, declutter your contact list and confirm that they still want to hear from you. This is a great excuse to get in touch with them personally and have a fresh conversation about their interests. Our team here at Ingenuity just did this and reconnected with so many people!
  3. Embrace Change: Remember that time you were into Tamagotchis and slap bracelets? (Actually, kids today are walking around with Tamagotchis – new ones… it’s true!) Aside from those however, times change, people change. Don’t network with the same folks forever. Get out of your comfort zone; get comfortable in the uncomfortable. Explore new groups, discover fresh faces and keep evolving.

This Fall, step out of the ordinary and into the extraordinary. It’s time to reset, refresh and reignite your networking scene.
