Managing Editor Chris Camara Reports on Crisis Communications Webinar Hosted by Association for Accounting Marketing

Note: This article published BEFORE the devastation left by hurricanes Helene and Milton across the Southeast U.S. in late 2024. Our thoughts are with the people affected, and we have supported those who are helping with relief and recovery efforts.

Professional service firm leaders can prepare for many aspects of a crisis, and yet there are just some things we can never anticipate. Having a framework for dealing with any type of crisis can help leaders manage the psychological responses to a crisis while simultaneously developing a clearer path forward.

This was the premise for an AAM High! webinar hosted for members of the Association for Accounting Marketing. Presenter Christine Nelson, communications consultant with Ingenuity Marketing Group, developed and presented her crisis communications framework to attendees. Her presentation was also covered by Inside Public Accounting and shared in the IPA newsletter.

IPA Managing Editor and Author Chris Camara was gracious enough to let us share this news and the article with our readers. See the full article here.

Firms that fail to plan for a crisis will not have the fundamentals in place to regroup, review, respond and recover. In a natural disaster, for example, the recovery phase can have lingering impacts such as absenteeism, mental health issues and turnover. As the article states, leaders can “take the opportunity to discuss the lessons learned from their response” at the onset of the crisis. Then talk about how to provide continuing care to the team and to clients.
